Fourteen years commercial experience deep in the stack
I started my commercial career as a server-side engineer at Havas Lynx building high-performance Ruby on Rails applications for multinational pharmaceutical companies. From there I moved into e-commerce and was the first engineer hired at Shiftcommerce where I helped the CTO architect a headless SaaS platform from scratch. The team grew from two of us to over 20 developers. The platform scaled through successive Black Fridays, processed hundreds of millions in revenue for clients like Matalan, T M Lewin and The Open, all without a major rewrite.
Since then I've built AI dashboards on Cognite's industrial data platform for AkerBP in Norway, scaled a real-time workforce marketplace at Indeed Flex, shipped payment/tip visualisation dashboards at PaymentGuru and developed accessible, high-performance websites for brands across the UK and USA.
I'm an AWS Certified Solutions Architect. I care about clean architecture, fault tolerance and building systems that don't need babysitting at 3am. When a client hires Bowfell Software they get me on the tools, not a junior with a runbook.
